What Shaped TasksDojo
TasksDojo was shaped by how I actually manage my own day. I use TasksDojo every day to manage my tasks and what I want to accomplish including developing TasksDojo. I created it because I kept running into the same questions with other task lists. What should I focus on today? What is already handled? What is still waiting for me?
Over time, using and learning other task management apps actually pulled me away from their purpose: getting things done. Task entry felt heavier than it needed to be. Lists are inconsistent, forcing me to hunt for what mattered. Many designs were so busy that it became difficult to see priorities clearly.
TasksDojo was designed to stay focused on Today. The goal is to make it easy to see what needs attention now, while also keeping overdue items and future tasks visible in a calm, organized, and thoughtful layout. Nothing feels hidden, and nothing requires extra effort just to understand where you stand.
Knowing what needs attention now, I use recurring tasks as one of the most important parts of the system for me. Most of what I want to improve in my life is not a one-time task. It is ongoing. Things like meditation, getting my steps in, managing spending, or staying consistent with personal goals. I wanted a place where those commitments could live without pressure.
Missing completing a task on a day didn’t feel like I was starting over. In TasksDojo, that recurring task would be there tomorrow or in a week (depending on frequency). If it was weekly I could move that task to the next day if I wanted. That makes it easier for me to come back to tasks and my goals without guilt or friction, and to trust that nothing important is being lost.
Reporting exists for the same reason. I wanted a clear way to look back and understand what I actually completed. I couldn’t accomplish this in many of the task apps. To see it the progress I made over time. That record makes efforts and achomplishements tangible and consistency easier to recognize. When I want a broader view, Pro reporting lets me see patterns across months, and years.
